Why punish the athletes and avid viewers like me? It’d be like cutting your nose off to spite your face – and would have no effect on Russian policies and laws. The boycott of the 1980 Moscow games accomplished nothing. . Russia, at least the government, is not exactly known for backing down (recall decades of Cold War?).

Instead, I suggest using the games as a means to show how idiotic and hateful these laws are through any number of public demonstrations around the world and an openly gay presence at Sochi – on and off the camera. Flamboyantly flouting the law.

My Russian grandmother, in response to the Russians not allowing some USSR-USA cultural exchange programs in the 80′s said “What’s wrong with a little entertainment”? Perhaps a new mash up video of “it’s Raining Men” & a You Can Play public service message in Russian, featuring Olympic athletes (instead of the WTF skimpily clad pirate wench theme). A Russian-USA men’s hockey teams gang bang might also do the trick, but I digress.

I think at very least the Puckbuddys team should make a video with all of us featured from our various locations and put it up on Youtube or something. The games are only 6 months away. I’m ready for my close up.
